Dr. Kenneth Peckham, Regional Supervising Coroner, Central Region, Central West Office, announced today that an inquest will be held into the death ofHarrison Iris.

Mr. Iris, 18 years old, died in hospital on February 11, 2021, following being in the custody of officers from the Peel Regional Police. An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Iris’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.
